1. My mobile home's ducts run under the floor — can they even be cleaned?

3. Can you do it the same day I call?

   Often yes, especially for a straightforward site-built house with a normal split system. Same-day gets less likely on manufactured and mobile homes, because we don't know until we're under there whether we're cleaning or looking at separated duct and crushed runs, and that can turn a short visit into a longer one. If you need same-day, call early in the day rather than late afternoon.

4. What usually turns out to be the real problem in houses around here?

   In the postwar block homes and duplexes, it's two things. First, original duct board plenums that have been in place for decades. The inner surface gets soft and fibrous, and no amount of brushing fixes a plenum that's deteriorating. Second, a single undersized return. One small return trying to feed the whole house pulls hard enough to drag in dust through every gap in the structure, so the ducts look dirty again fast and the house never balances. In mobile homes it's the belly: rodent entry and moisture from the ground, plus sections that have come apart so the system dumps conditioned air into the cavity instead of into your rooms.
